What is Vacation Village Resorts all about? We’ll discuss their main timeshare destinations, their customers’ experiences, and whether you should purchase a timeshare from them or not. Our hope is to provide you with an objective view of the company, their unique place within the timeshare industry, and whether they truly are the business they make themselves out to be.
Â
What is Vacation Village Resorts’ reputation within the timeshare industry? Though they aren’t the biggest timeshare company out there, they’ve surely increased their popularity by aligning themselves with RCI and Interval International. However, hitching their wagon to these larger timeshare companies may not always be beneficial, as RCI has a 1.4 out of 5 review on consumer affairs. The reviews on this website reveal that customers commonly attribute their dissatisfaction with RCI‘s inflexibility in allowing booking cancellations, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as RCI‘s deceptive manner of communicating the real monetary obligations of owning a timeshare.
But what about Vacation Village Resorts themselves? Are they a reliable timeshare company that provides honest information about the real responsibilities and costs that come with long-term timeshare ownership? Or are they just as deceptive and uncompromising as some of the worst timeshare companies in the industry?
Before diving into the policies and practices of Vacation Village Resorts, let’s take a look at what makes them unique. Vacation Village has 15 flagship resorts for timeshare owners to select from. They also advertise stays at their affiliated resorts. These resorts are located in popular vacation spots in California, Florida, Nevada, Virginia, and more. Among all the places that the company provides timeshares, Vacation Village takes the most pride in the following timeshare destinations.
Vacation Village has many timeshare resorts in Nevada, but the properties that the company highlights most in the Silver State are those located in Las Vegas. They have three resorts in the city: The Berkley, The Grandview, and The Cliffs at Peace Canyon. These resorts have a 4.5, 4, and 4.5 out of 5 review on Tripadvisor respectively.Â
None of the three properties are located on the Vegas Strip; however, they are all in proximity to more minor Las Vegas attractions. And because these are timeshare spaces, these units tend to offer guests more luxurious amenities than traditional hotel rooms, like full living rooms, spacious bathrooms, and kitchen appliances.Â
Unlike their vacation destinations in Las Vegas, a Vacation Village stay in the Berkshires offers serenity, relaxation, and natural beauty to their timeshare-owning customers. This breathtaking mountain region of Massachusetts offers access to an overabundance of outdoor activities as well as an emerging food and arts scene. There are two Vacation Village resorts located in the Berkshires: Berkshire Mountain Lodge in Pittsfield and Vacation Village in the Berkshires in Hancock. Both locations, which have a 4.5 and 4 star rating on Tripadvisor respectively, offer spacious condos and amenities such as jacuzzi‘s, playgrounds, arcades, and fitness centers.
Like many other timeshare companies, Vacation Village has two resorts located near Disney World: The Berkley Orlando and Vacation Village at Parkway. Though they are advertised as being in Orlando, both resorts are actually located in Kissimmee. Residing in this city offers their guests the convenience of being less than 10 minutes away from the Disney World Parks.Â
Vacation Village also has timeshare resorts in South Florida, including Mizner Place at Weston Town Center and Palm Beach Shores Resort and Vacation Villas. These destinations, which both have 4 out of 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor and have access to high-end resort amenities, spacious living spaces, and upscale nightlife.Â
Williamsburg, Virginia is a historical town popularized for its 17th and 18th century feel as well as its proximity to the Jamestown Settlement. Vacation Village offers stays at four resorts in the area, including Patriots Inn and The Colonies at Williamsburg. At the nearby Massanutten Resort, timeshare owners have access to Colonial Williamsburg as well as the scenic views of the Shenandoah Valley.Â
By partnering with larger timeshare companies and offering stays at a variety of beautiful locations throughout the U.S., Vacation Village Resorts has marketed itself as the perfect company to purchase a timeshare from. And after seeing the Tripadvisor ratings in the above list of resort locations, you might start to think it’s true.
However, it must be acknowledged that Vacation Village doesn’t only sell timeshares at these locations. It also rents out the units as hotel rooms. And a quick search through the reviews on TripAdvisor would suggest that the vast majority of the vacationers are just renting out the rooms and do not actually own a timeshare with Vacation Village Resorts. That might explain why the TripAdvisor reviews starkly contrast with the 1 out of 5 rating that Vacation Village Resorts has with the Better Business Bureau.Â
The reviews on Better Business Bureau are wrought with complaints that Vacation Village Resorts traps people into hours-long sales presentations until they agree to sign a timeshare contract. And though Vacation Village Resorts claims that their fees are generally lower than competitors due to less frequent in-unit upgrades, reviews also reveal that the maintenance fees of many timeshare owners have steeply increased despite the company stating that these rates would stay the same.Â
How can a company boasting financial accessibility, convenience, and transparency have so many customers deeply regretting their timeshare purchases with them? After all, Vacation Village Resorts has been a member of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) for four decades. This association prides itself on providing transparent information about timeshare ownership. But yet, so many Vacation Village timeshare owners appear to be overwhelmingly unsatisfied with their timeshare purchases and the unhelpful treatment they receive from Vacation Village customer service agents.Â
Unfortunately, like many other timeshare companies, Vacation Village Resorts seems to be guilty of misinforming and tricking customers into unwanted timeshare purchases. If you’ve been one of their victims, you may want to seek timeshare cancellation as soon as possible.Â
Have you purchased a timeshare from Vacation Village Resorts that you regret? Were you pressured by aggressive salespeople who promised you timeshare benefits and flexibility that are far from reality? Are you past your rescission period but still feel the need to exit your timeshare contract due to unwarranted maintenance fee increases?Â
